The Harris County Toll Road Authority expects to start construction on four connectors along the Grand Parkway and Tomball Tollway in mid-2019. The Harris County Commissioners Court approved $2.5 million toward the design of the connectors along both roadways during a meeting on Dec. 12. The HCTRA has been working along with the Texas Department of Transportation on the project, said HCTRA spokesperson Roxana Sibrian.
"Drivers will have the option to get directly on the Grand Parkway, reducing traffic volume and improving connectivity in the area," she said.
According to a TXDOT traffic count conducted last year, rush hour traffic in the area occurs between 7 a.m. to 8 a.m. with an average of 1,000 vehicles and then 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. with about 800 vehicles.
